Jay Arlen Kretchmer, 76, of Mishawaka, passed away at 11:45am April 10, 2016 at Golden Living - Fountainview Place in Mishawaka. He was born January 9, 1940 to Kern and Ramona Kretchmer in South Bend. On September 17, 1961, Jay married Mary Jane Russell; she has preceded him in death. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was proud of his service in the Army Corps of Engineers. Jay was owner of Jay''s Construction and operated his business successfully until his retirement. Mr. Kretchmer was a lifetime resident and enjoyed vintage cars, history, antiques and collecting guns. Jay is survived by his children, Jay Arlen Kretchmer, Joseph Allen (Michelle) Kretchmer, and Jerry Andrew (Maria) Kretchmer all of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Stephanie Kretchmer, Justin Kretchmer, Jessica Kretchmer; his siblings, James Allen Kretchmer of Orlando, Fl, Judy Arlene Bechle of Warsaw, and sister-in-law, Bobbie (Ronald) Jones of Kewanna; nieces & nephews, Michael Bechle, Buddy Cherry, Laurie K. Randall, Lisa Brandy, Bridget Cummins and his cousin, Sherry Black. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary and his sister, Jane Ann Kretchmer Willis. Pastor Bob Vale will officiate the 10:00 Funeral Service Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, with visitation one hour prior to services. The family's preferred memorial is the Shriner''s Hospitals, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
