Jean L. Vergon 6/22/1924-8/25/2011
Jean Lois Vergon, age 87, of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Tanglewood Independent Living Center. Jean was born June 22, 1924 to the late Lloyd and Mary (Hoover) Hibschman in Mishawaka, Indiana. On February 1, 1943 she married Kenneth Vergon. Kenneth preceded her in death, passing away in 2006.
Surviving is her daughter, Vicki Lynne (Denny) Kenaga of Osceola, her grandchildren; Lori (Steve) Bush, Chip Kenaga, Michael (Tamara) Vergon, Wade, Keith and Kim Vergon. Also surviving are 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Surviving as well are her sisters, Shirley (Bud) Gray of Akron, Indiana, and Doris Hoover of Ft. Myers, Florida. Jean was preceded in death by her son Larry Vergon in April of 2010.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Davy Troxel of the Mishawaka Grace Brethren Church on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
Jean was employed for over 35 years as a secretary at Wheelabrator Frye in Mishawaka before her retirement. While employed, she and many of her co-workers belonged to the Julianna Club. Jean also enjoyed bowling in leagues in her younger years. She was a longtime member of the Mishawaka Grace Brethren Church, and in her spare time she enjoyed reading, and attending the Bible study group at Tanglewood.
