Jeanette E. Bishop, 87, of South Bend, died Sunday August 26, 2012 at Morningside Nursing Center, South Bend. Jeanette was born in Mishawaka on January 25, 1925 to Cyril W. and Mae R. (Shaffer) Bates, who preceded their daughter in death. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1943 and went on to earn a Nursing Degree. She married James L. Bishop on June 18, 1943. Working in the medical field, she volunteered in hospitals during WWII and continued her volunteer work at St. Joseph Community Hospital in Mishawaka throughout her working life. She retired from South Bend Clinic in 1987 as a Nurse for Dr. Marquis. In addition to her parents, Jeanette was also preceded in death by her husband, James and her daughter, Sherry Maurer. Survivors include daughters, Marcia (Steve) Brown of Mishawaka and Melanie (Bryan Roush) Grossman-Roush of Zionsville; son, James L. Bishop, Jr. of Frankfort, IL; brother, Richard (Bonnie) Bates of Ann Arbor, MI; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 2:00 Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
