ELKHART – Jeanne A. Mitchell, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning of Monday, May 7, 2018. Jeanne was born in Huntington, Indiana on January 14, 1925 to the late Joseph and Marcella Young. On November 9, 1946, she was wed to Mr. John W. Mitchell. Together, Jeanne and John celebrated fifty-four years of marriage before his passing on December 20, 2000. She was a homemaker and loving mother to her four children. Jeanne also taught Sunday school for many years at Faith Baptist Church in Elkhart. She enjoyed collecting dolls along with other general collectables, arts & crafts, working on word searches, and absolutely loved babies. She also had a very dedicated love of the Lord. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. Jeanne is survived by her sons, David (Bonnie) Mitchell of Yreka, CA and Jim Mitchell of Elkhart, IN; daughters, Nancy (David) Bortner of Bristol, IN, and Joyce Mitchell, also of Elkhart, six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanne was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Elizabeth Romary. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 10th from 1 pm - 2 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola. Following visitation, funeral service will be held at 2 pm with Pastor John Hogsett to officiate. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
