Jeanne M. Neely, 78, of South Bend, went to be with her fishing buddy on Thursday August 16, 2018. Jeanne was a South Bend native and lifelong resident, born July 31, 1940, the daughter of (the late) Herbert & Bernadette (Meyer) Vanderbosch. Jeanne graduated from St. Joseph High School with the Class of '58. On April 23, 1960 she married Dallas M. Neely, who preceded her in death on July 28, 2014 after 54 years of a life fulfilling marriage. After high school, Jeanne's employment career was entirely at the University of Notre Dame. She started her work in the mail room. She honed her strengths and love for her work as she and her husband began to raise a family. Her desire for teamwork, both at home and work, eared her position at the University's Ticket Office and then to Sports Information. Soon after that, Jeanne became Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director, a position she held until her retirement.  Jeanne was devoted to her family, friends, coworkers, and colleagues. She enjoyed ND sports and being able to see the joy of what being part of a team could bring to people's lives. Her favorite ND sports were Football, Basketball, and Hockey.  One of her humblest moments was when her work joined with her family time and her husband Dallas moderated a ND home hockey game at the ACC.  Jeanne enjoyed fishing at Diamond Lake with her husband, Dal, including traveling, time with the Clay (HS) Group, and her special time with her card club (no roosters allowed, just the hens). She loved movies, working puzzles, and just spending time with family and friends on the back porch.  Her opus was to see the Cubs win a national championship.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Jeanne was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Vanderbosch and her sisters-in-law, Shirley & Arlene Vanderbosch. She is survived by her sons, Kevin P. (Cathy) Neely of Osceola and Christopher S. (Shelia Shepherd) Neely of South Bend;  grandchildren, Kevin Neely, Jr. of Osceola and Mariah Neely of South Bend; brothers, Larry Vanderbosch of South Bend and Keith Vanderbosch of Cape Coral FL. The family will receive friends from 4-8pm Thursday August 23, 2018 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Private entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
