Jeffery R. Smith, 64, passed away Tuesday morning, July 31, 2018 in Elkhart, Indiana. Jeffery was born to the late William and Cora (Winchell) Smith, Sr. in South Bend, Indiana on August 11, 1953. Jeff and his wife, Linda, celebrated 37 years of marriage before her passing on November 6, 2017. He was a dedicated husband to Linda before her passing and loved his family dearly. Jeff served his country in the United States Army and worked for many years as a maintenance technician. He enjoyed fishing and would go on camping trips with Linda at Twin Mills just outside of Howe, Indiana. Jeff was also a fan of NASCAR and liked to build model cars and planes. Jeff is survived by his son, Steve (Tammie Kratz) Hartman; brothers, William, Jr. and Kenneth, and sisters, Cindy, Gloria, and Nancy. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Linda, Jeff was preceded in death by his infant son, Todd Jeffery Smith and sister, Susan. Visitation for Jeff will be held from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home located at 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, Indiana. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 10:00 am with Pastor Keith McFarren presiding. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
