Jerry L. Irons, 75, of Edwardsburg, passed away at 8:45 am, Saturday, August 4, 2012 in Eastlake Nursing Home, Elkhart. Jerry was born on April 15, 1937 in South Bend, the son of the late Harry and Mary Ann (Beadle) Irons. On July 1, 1958, he married Rosella Truemain. She passed away June 12, 1995. He is also preceded in death by two children, Sandra Kryski and Donald Alwine.
He is survived by three children, Tim (Sandy) Alwine, Alberta Smith and Geraldine Halloway, all of Elkhart, three brothers, Jack (Veida) Irons, Chuck (Linda) Irons and Richard Irons, all of Elkhart and two sisters, Shirley Reafsnyder of Goshen and Roanna (Gary) Long of Palm Beach, FL. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jerry worked at Whitehall Lab for over 30 years. He loved the outdoors. He loved to fish, loved dogs, and mushroom hunting. He also loved the trees turning colors in the fall. You ask him his age and he always said "29!" Maybe in his heart he was 29. Most of all, Jerry was proud to be part of a family. He loved all his brothers, sisters, step children and their siblings.

Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Osceola.
