Jesse Wayne Adkins, 87, of Mishawaka, passed away at 12:05 am, Monday, May 12, 2014 in Golden Living Center-Countryside Place. Jesse was born on July 2, 1926, the son of Julian and Angie (Poole) Adkins. On December 20, 1947, he married Billie Edgell. Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Billie; daughter, Kathie (Donald) Hixenbaugh of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Dori (Chris) Hughes and Dawn (Jeremiah) Rizek and four great grandchildren, Madison, Aubrey, Abigail, and Jayce. He is also survived by a brother, Julian P. Adkins of Osceola. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Leiloni Adkins and siblings, Molly Mitchell, Rebecca Mossman, Lena Bumpus, Harce Adkins and Lena Adkins. Jesse retired from H. DeWulf Construction in August of 1988. Jesse was a member of the St. Joseph lodge #45, F. & A.M. and Fraternal Order of Eagles #360. His hobbies included woodworking and gardening. He loved Notre Dame and Penn Football and was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 16, 2014 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. Robert Vale will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 North Beech Road, Osceola, IN 46561.
