Bremen, IN — Jimmy Wayne Carter, 65, peacefully reached out and took the hand of Jesus on August 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Memorial Mission Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.
Jimmy was born on October 27, 1960, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Mary S. (Barnes) Carter and the late Floyd K. Carter. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Jill Carter.
Jimmy was a loving Son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Rosemarie (Harding) Carter; his mother, Mary S. (Barnes) Carter; his children, Alexandria Corbin and Jimmy Michael Carter; his grandchildren, Harrison and Madelyn; his brother, Floyd K. Carter; his sister, Patti (Ed) Piscione; his sister-in-law, Donna Derringer and his brother-in-law, John T. Harding III.
Jimmy retired from Carter Tire, where he spent many years working hard with his father earning a reputation for being a “MacGyver”, he could fix anything. He worked on just about anything that came through the door—from lawnmower tires to truck tires even enormous loader tires that were bigger than him. His strong work ethic and willingness to lend a hand were a reflection of the man he was.
Outside of work, Jimmy enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved classic rock, fishing, golfing, and camping with his wife, Rosemarie. Some of his happiest memories were made outdoors, enjoying time together and making memories with the people he loved. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Claire, who brought him much joy and companionship.
Jimmy Loved his family, lived with a generous heart, and will be remembered for his kind nature. Though his family will miss him more than words can express, they can find comfort knowing that he is now at peace and safely in the hands of Jesus.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Indiana. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana, where Jimmy will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Everlasting Life.
