Joan Melser, 81, of South Bend, passed away at 7:48 am, Monday, January 30, 2011 in Hospice House of South Bend. Joan was born on July 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Arlo and Helen (Bostwick) Cox. On October 10, 1947, she married Harry J. Melser, who passed away on April 28, 2010. Joan retired as the Head Baker from School City of South Bend.
She is survived by her son, Randy (Judy) Melser of South Bend; one grandson, Christopher (Jaime) Melser of Parrish, FL and great granddaughter, Kaylee Paige Melser. She is also survived by two brothers, Arlo "Bud" (Kay) Cox and Richard Cox, both of Hoopeston, IL, three brothers in law, Richard Melser, Sr. of Mishawaka, Floyd Melser of Charlotte, MI, and John (Bea) Melser of South Bend as well as two sisters in law, Nancy Cox of Rossville, IL and Karen Cox of Hoopeston, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Ricky Melser and two brothers, Jack and Jerry Cox.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, February 3, 2012 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 4, 2012 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Funeral Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
