John Wesley Harrington, Sr., 92, formerly of South Bend, died at 5:00 am, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Golden Living Center, Mishawaka. John was born on September 21, 1922 in Vermillion Co., IN to the late Gerald C and Mary D. (Dwyer) Harrington. He is survived by five children, Sonya Harrington of Mishawaka, Gregory (Marsha) Harrington of Rolling Prairie, John W. Harrington, Jr. of Mishawaka, Garry (Brenda) Harrington of Elkhart, Darrell (Joan) Drudge of South Bend and Dennis (Vickie) Drudge of South Bend. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Verna E. (Rigel) Harrington, who died on January 14, 2014, and siblings, June D. Nimtz and Kenneth D. Harrington. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Europe and the Pacific during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for Studebaker and White Farm Equipment and was a house painter late in life. He loved Notre Dame Football and Indiana Basketball. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center for their care. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Monday, January 5, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 6, 2014 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola with full military rites.
