John D. Jones, 79, of Elkhart, passed away at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 24, 2009 in Woodland Manor Nursing Home, Elkhart. John was born on March 19, 1930 in Manchester, TN to the late James B. and Ona (Pitts) Jones. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Haggart, who passed away in 1993. On August 9, 1974 he married Faye M. Tipton. She passed away on May 21, 2009. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Jones in 1962 and two sisters, Pearlene Stotts and Arlie Tate.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathey (Randy) Smith of Wakarusa, three grandchildren, Broncy, Jason, and Nathan Smith and four great grandchildren, Justice, Waytt, Macey, and Maverick. He is also survived by two brothers, Orville and Frank Jones of Manchester, TN and four sisters, Artie Reed, Margaret Lewis, Betty Joyce McCollough, and Peggy Grosch.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Rev. Bob Wood will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
