John Dale Lester, age 62, of Osceola, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012. John was born September 14, 1950 in South Bend, Indiana to the late John Ellison and Patsy Jeanette (Harbaugh) Lester. John graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka, and served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his children, Kim (Tim) Baldwin of Osceola, John (Kelly) Lester of North Liberty, Indiana and his grandchildren, Kasey Smith and Kaytlyn Baldwin and Ashley and John Lester. Surviving as well is his longtime companion, Jeannie Butrick of Edwardsburg, Michigan and her family. John is also survived by his sister Jennifer Lester-Brown of Cassopolis, Michigan and his brother Jim Lester of Elkhart.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday, December 3, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the funeral service, which will be held at 1pm Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at St. Peter United Church of Christ 915 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Indiana 46615.

John was employed for many years as a machinist at the CTS Corporation in Elkhart. He was a member of Michiana H.O.G., enjoyed riding his Harley, and watching Notre Dame Football and Hockey. John was also a member of the American Legion Post #308, First Christian Church of South Bend, and was a longtime visitor at St. Peter''s United Church of Christ in South Bend.
