Obituary

John L. Monroe, 89, died Friday at Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis, Mich.

The Lawrenceburg, KY native was born October 3, 1923 and served in the US Army during WWII in the 236th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division. On May 15, 1945 he married Barbara N. Deering. A member of Northside Baptist Church in Elkhart, he was also a member of the NRA and the VFW Post 10704 in Cassopolis. John was self-employed, and had retired in 1980.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Barbara N. Monroe of Cassopolis; son, John L. (Vikki) Monroe, Jr. of South Bend; daughters, Vicky L. Sanches of Sugar Hill GA, Brenda G. (Greg) Wolff of St. Louis MO, Linda D. (Robert) McCabe of Allen Park, MI, Joanna (Frank) Price of Mishawaka, Robyn (John) Bright of Cassopolis and Dana S. Monroe of Littleton CO; sisters, Ella C. "Kitty" Bowen and Emma B. Williams, both of Lawrenceburg KY; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services 1:00 Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. with calling one hour prior to services. Calling also Monday 4-7pm in the funeral home. Entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family''s preferred memorial is the Cass County Medical Care Facility, 23770 Hospital St, Cassopolis MI 49031.
