John F. Seifer, Jr., 85, of Elkhart passed away at 1:20 pm, Sunday, February 5, 2012 in his home surrounded by family. John was born on October 18, 1926 in Chicago, the son of the late John F. and Mary (Garner) Seifer. On July 17, 1947 in Valparaiso, he married Carol A. "Dolly" Neill. She passed away on November 2, 2010. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Seifer.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Rick) Peak of Elkhart and Diane (Joe) Avery of Lakeville, two grandsons, David Fine and Jimmy Peak and two great grandchildren, Darik and Savanna Fine.
John graduated from Adams High School before entering the U.S. Navy. He served from January 26, 1945 to June 24, 1946. He was a member of the Mishawaka Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Elkhart Moose Lodge and the V.F.W. Post 360. He will be remembered for his love of family, pets and sports.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 9, 2012 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola
