Johnny E. Harkless, age 58, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 9:15 pm. Johnny was born June 8, 1953 in Fayetteville, West Virginia to the late James L. and Bertha E. (Atha) Harkless.

He is survived by his son John W. (Shyann Sue) Harkless of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and his daughters Michelle (Thomas) Steinke and Sonya Fletcher, both of Bristol, Indiana, and Patricia Carey of Towanda, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Johnny was preceded in death by his brothers Joe and James "Slick" Harkless, and his sister Carolotta Bowyer.

Visitation will be held 3 hours prior to the 6:00pm funeral service on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola.

Johnny was employed for many years in manufacturing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed cooking for his family.
