Elkhart - Joseph (Joey) Reed Campanello, 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, at his home with his loving family beside him.
Joseph was born to the late Stephen and Marjorie (Reed) Campanello on July 3rd, 1949, in Elkhart, IN. He had graduated from Elkhart High School in 1967. He then went to serve in the U.S Army from July 1967 to July of 1970, serving in Korea during the Vietnam conflict.
Joseph enjoyed living on the Saint Joseph River. He played drums and sang in various bands in his youth until his 30s. He liked to play the harmonica. He adored his two granddaughters, Bella and Ayden, going to Grandparents Day, book fairs, being a student as they taught him, letting him style his hair and paint his nails and he was always happy to provide for the needs of his granddaughters.
Joseph was preceded in death by Marjorie Laudeman and Stephen Campanello, survived by his wife of 18 years. Susan K. (Cooper) Campanello, His stepdaughter, Kristen Cooper of Elkhart, 2 granddaughters, Bella Cooper and Ayden Cooper, two brothers, Michael Campanello of Michigan, Donald (Jill) Laudeman of Elkhart IN, and a sister, Lori (Scott) Becker of Plymouth.
Memorials may be given to Elkhart North side Nazarene Church, 53569 County Road 7, Elkhart, IN 46514 and or the Center for Hospice, Mishawaka.
Per Joey's request there will be no services, he requested everyone celebrate his life with their favorite memory of him, Joey wanted to say Love you all and catch you on the flip side.
A private committal service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
