Josephine Williams, age 75, of Elkhart, Indiana went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 7, 2011 following a brief illness. Josephine was born December 30, 1935 in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Dominick and Dorothy (Robinson) Ambrose in Elkhart, Indiana. On June 26, 1954, Josephine married Raymond O. Williams at her aunt''s farm in Bristol, Indiana.
Raymond survives, along with their daughter, Kathy Davis and her husband Gary of Elkhart, her granddaughter Keia Rolston and her husband Jim of Middlebury, and two great-grandchildren, Kaeleigh and Braedynn Rolston. Also surviving are her siblings, Carmelene Noffsinger and her husband James, Betty Shattuck and her husband Ray, Nick Ambrose and his wife Elaine, Michele Ambrose and his wife Violet, and Carolyn Smith. Also surviving are her "honorary" great-grandchildren, Austyn Torres of Baltimore, Maryland and Chloe Cruz of Osceola. Josephine was preceded in death by her son, Rickey Williams, who passed away in December of 1978, as well as her brother Pat Ambrose.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday, January 10, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Elkhart. Interment will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart, Indiana.
Josephine was employed for over 20 years at Faries-McMeekan Inc. in Elkhart before her retirement at the age of 62. She faithfully attended St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church all of her life, and was a devoted Christian woman. She also was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed Sunday lunches and "music time" with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Rummy, with her granddaughter Keia. Josephine was also an avid football fan, following the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In her memory, donations may be given to St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.
