Joy Eileen Thompson, 92, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Elkhart, died on February 2, 2019.  She was born on July 3, 1926 in Mishawaka to Russell L. and Sylvia M. (Bice) Galbreath.  Joy was a 1944 Mishawaka High School graduate.  On May 17, 1947 Joy married Hurben Thompson and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2012.  She attended the Michiana Community Church of God and the Fellowship Church of God in Bradenton, Fl.  Joy retired from the South Bend Tribune as the Secretary of the Circulation Department.  She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, knitting, and reading.  Joy is survived by her children, Janet (Pete) Miller of Granger, Jerry (Sue) Thompson of Edwardsburg, and Jana (Mark) Pierce of Sarasota, Florida; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Dorlene (Darrell) Ling of Mishawaka.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Hurben; and a granddaughter, Carie Miller.  Friends and family will be received on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 9-11 AM at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN  46561 with a service in Joy's honor beginning at 11 AM.  Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Michiana Community Church of God, 51637 Ash Rd, Granger, IN 46530 or the Fellowship Church
