Joyce A. Olson, age 73, of South Bend, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at her residence. Joyce was born June 12, 1937 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Thomas and Josie (Rose) Hamel. Joyce graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend. On October 6, 1956, Joyce married Lawrence Olson. They celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Her husband Lawrence survives, along with their children, Kurt A. Olson and Thomas P. Olson of South Bend, Anthony J. (Carolyn) Olson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Renee (Mike) Horth of Duluth, Minnesota, Tina M. (Rick) Wilk and Jennifer A. (John) Horvath of Plymouth, Indiana, Rebecca S. Steffen of Mishawaka, Monica (Ed) Bernhard of South Bend, and Cynthia L. (Rob) Emmans of Alabama. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Raymond K. Olson in 1995.
There will be no visitation, and services will be private. Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola is handling arrangements.
Joyce was employed for over 10 years at Curtis Products, where she did various jobs during her time there. She attended the Lutheran Church for much of her life, and truly enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, as well as talking on the phone with her friends and family. Joyce also enjoyed decorating her home, and shopping as well. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Pet Refuge; 2300 W. 6th St. Mishawaka, Indiana 46544.
