Juanita M. Mammon, age 86, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 surrounded by her family at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Nita was born September 8, 1927 in Buchanan, Michigan to the late John H. and Ethyl (Koch) Hittle. On February 8, 1947, she married William Mammon in Niles, Michigan. He preceded her in death, passing away April 18, 2009.
Surviving are her children, George (Linda) Mammon of Granger, and Pat (Tom) Benford of Mishawaka. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Sherianne (Mat) Johnson, Tom Benford, Debbie (Dale) Pippenger, Mike Mammon, Chris Mammon, Kelly (Justin) Baker and Bill (Katie) Mammon, as well as 17 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons Louis and Michael Mammon, her brothers Robert and Harold Hittle, and her granddaughter, Lori Fielder.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Chapel Hill with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Nita retired after many years as a waitress. It was a career she enjoyed immensely. She was an avid BINGO player, and loved playing with the many friends she had made over the years. Nita also loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and dog "Boots." In her memory, donations may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545.
