Juanita "Fern" Whitaker (Anderson)

Juanita "Fern" Whitaker (Anderson) of Bristol, Indiana, sadly left us on June 10, 2023, following an extended illness.  She was born in Norton Virginia, and grew up in Fleminig-Neon Kentucky.  She had moved to Bristol in 1969.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, Clarence Edward Anderson and Roma Frazier Anderson, a brother, Clarence Edward Anderson, Jr., and a sister Carolyn Sue Seals.  She leaves behind former husband Charlie Whitaker of Bristol, daughter Charlene Whitaker Pontius-Zehner of Bristol, granddaughter Dora Pontius, and sister Linda Mullins of Virginia.

She worked at Elkhart General Hospital for 25 years and concluded her career in the Emergency Room (ER) as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).  She loved to care for people and touched the lives of whoever she met.  She loved 70's rock music and loved to read.  Her humble roots made her appreciate life.

Her celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on July 16, 2023 at the American Legion in Bristol.  The family asks that attendees wear red in honor of Fern's favorite color.
