Obituary

June Carlynn Clark, 91, of South Mishawaka, passed away at 1:40 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in Hospice House of South Bend. June was born on June 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Esther Metcalf (nee McCullough). June graduated from Syracuse High School, class of 1940, where she became a Drum Majorette. After high school, she worked various jobs before meeting and eventually snaring Charles E. Clark to be her husband. They married on September 18, 1943 in Joplin, MO. After the war, June was an at home mother before embarking on several adventures, including working for Tupperware, Campfire Girls and opening her own needlepoint shop, The Needle Art Den. After her husband''s retirement from Bell Telephone, they began to traveling along the Gulf Coast, making many friends along the way. In 1997, she took a three week trip to Europe using Chuck''s war-time photos as a guide, finding many places that her husband had been 50 years before. Her lifelong passion was for needle work. She worked in mediums ranging from Japanese Bunka to Brazilian embroidery. June always enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially members of the South Bend Chapter of the Embroiderer''s Guild of America and Granger Community Church. Anyone who knew June knew she never went anywhere without her signature red lipstick and well coifed hair, just has she had done in younger days, dancing the night away with one - and only - rum and coke to wet her whistle. Survivors include one son, Charles G. Clark of Las Vegas, son in law Patrick A. Treash of Niles, daughter in law Paulette Clark ofSouth Bend, five grandchildren, Lauria Lynch-German, Christopher Treash, Allen Treash, Courtney Armington and Jena Armington; three great grandchildren, Brittany Treash, Heather Treash and Francesca Armington; and a sister, Caroyln (Tom) Fleming. She is also survived by three nieces and two nephews, Tom Metcalf, Ann (Pat) George, Kathy (Craig) Allen, Steven (Debbie) Metcalf, and Mary Kay (Tom) Olson as well as their children.
