IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen
Stickler
September 14, 1939 – October 7, 2022
Karen Kay Stickler, 83, of Mishawaka, died October 7, 2022. Karen passed in her home with all three of her children at her side. She was born in Mishawaka on September 14, 1939, to Jessie Mae (Oakley) and Howard Eugene Kollar. She graduated from Mishawaka High School with the class of 1957.
Karen married Harold Dean Null on April 11, 1959. Together they had three children. Dean preceded her in death, passing in 1970. She later married Robert (Bob) A. Stickler on April 19, 1985.
Karen worked at C.T.S and Whitehall Laboratories in Elkhart and retired from Classic Transport 2003. Karen loved her role as "Granny" as her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren affectionately called her. Granny loved to snuggle babies and was thrilled every time a new one joined the family. She loved her family fiercely and would do anything for them. Karen loved to travel and was the first to jump in for a road trip. She had a huge heart and was known to take in strays, be they animal or human. Karen was an avid reader, often staying up into the wee hours of the morning to finish a book she had started earlier in the day. She loved a good garage sale and always found the best "treasures." Karen and Bob enjoyed motorcycle rides and watching NASCAR and loved to spend their summers at the lake together. She became a sports fan later in life and could sometimes be found sporting her Mishawaka Cavemen attire at a game or cheering for the Golden State Warriors on TV.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Howard Kollar; two brothers Duane Kollar and Phillip Kollar, a sister-in-law Sherry Kollar; husband Robert A. Stickler; son-in-law Jeff South; and grandson Colby Smith.
Her survivors include her brother Robert Kollar of Osceola, two sister-in-laws Janet Kollar of Mishawaka and Emily Kollar of South Bend, her three children Joseph (Lori) Null of Bristol, Dawn South, and Deana (Scott) Smith both of Mishawaka, IN, along with a chosen daughter Kelly (Kevin) George; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express gratitude to those who have helped care for Karen prior to her passing.
Friends and family may call on Friday Oct. 14, 2022 from 11-1 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561.
A Funeral Service in her honor will be at 1 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Resale to the Rescue, Inc. 905 W. McKinley Hwy. Mishawaka, IN 46545.
