Kathlyn Maxine Fain's Obituary

Kathlyn Maxine Fain, a loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at Bell Tower Health and Rehab in Granger, following a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Kathlyn was born on October 17, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Richard and Jane Eloise (Lingenfelter) Kabzinski Sr. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Fain, in 2005; her brothers, Robert Kabzinski and Greg Boyd; and her sisters, Oralee Kabzinski and Mary Horvath.

A proud graduate of Mishawaka High School, Class of 1969, Kathlyn went on to build a life centered on family, love, and perseverance. She met the love of her life, Robert Fain, and they were united in marriage on June 19, 1982. Together, they shared many cherished years. She carried a deep love for her late husband and missed him dearly every day. Her family finds peace in knowing she is now reunited with him.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and the things she loved most. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and the fun and friendships that came with it. She was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and cheered just as passionately for Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. She took great pride in her collection of Boyd’s Bears. For several years, she dedicated her time volunteering with AARP. She also had a well-known love for her Diet Coke and Reese’s peanut butter cups while spending her afternoons watching her favorite daytime soaps. Above all, she will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and the laughter she brought to those around her.

Kathlyn will be deeply missed by her children, William (Jho) Blaschke , Nathan Fain , Justin (Becky) Fain, and Aubrey (Jason) Woodford; her treasured grandchildren, Paul Fain, Colin Hochstetler, and David Fain; her sisters, Rickie (Norb) Rybicki, Cathy (Doug) Reed, and Debbie (Dan) Carrico; her brothers, Richard (Jill) Kabzinski, and Tommy (Donna) Boyd; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, April 14, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a funeral service immediately following at 1:00 PM, all at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana.

Kathlyn will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Robert, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
