Kathryn A. Riggs, 88, of South Bend, passed away peacefully at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Kathryn was born on July 26, 1921 in Ottumwa, IA to the late James and Frances E. (Feehan) Glentzer.
Kathryn worked for several grocery and retail stores before retiring and was a member of the Retail Clerks Union. She loved to make crafts and was a great cook, especially with desserts. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by three children, Donald C. (Dana) Heston of Tampa, FL, Edward J. (Patty) Heston, III of Niles, MI and Beverly S. (Tom) Tajkowski of Oscoela.; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, James (Wanda) Glentzer of Indianola, IA, John Glentzer of Deltona, FL and Gene Glentzer of Lake Wells, FL and one sister, Helen Musselman of Tucson, AZ. She is preceded in death by a husband, Edward J. Heston, Jr., two sons, Ronald E and Michael D. Heston, three brothers, Francis, Leo, and Raymond Glentzer and two sisters, Mable Bednar and Mary Yensick.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, October 2, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the funeral home with Elder Russell Graf, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
