Obituary

SOUTH BEND, IN – Kathy Jeannine Bell, 58, of South Bend, Indiana passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Memorial Hospital.

Kathy was born on May 26, 1960 in Anderson, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late William T. Bell and the late Mary Jeannine James (Combs).

Kathy is survived by her Beloved husband, Michael K. Jones of South Bend, IN; son, Aaron M. Wellman of Antioch, TN; sister, Kara J. (Beth) Ingrum of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Asa Thomas Wellman and Kharma Jayde; step-children, Elizabeth M. Jones of Mishawaka, IN, Alexander M. Jones of South Bend, IN and Abram M. Jones of South Bend, IN.; and her precious dog Izzy, all of whom she deeply loved and felt so blessed to be a part of their lives.

Kathy graduated from Anderson High School (Class of 1978), went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and Sociology (with honors) from Western Kentucky University in 1996. As a life-long learner, she continued on to earn a Master's Degree in Education, Counseling from Indiana University South Bend in 2014.

As a former Executive Director with Kentucky CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates - for Children) from 2001 to 2005, Kathy's depth of empathy, compassion and energy drove her to step-in and help make a difference in the lives of many abused or neglected children.

Kathy's began her Counseling career as an Intern at YWCA North Central Indiana 2013-2014, then a Counselor at Reflections Counseling in South Bend, IN 2014-2015.

Kathy's unique abilities and unselfish desire to understand, assist and support her fellow human beings in a nonjudgmental, safe and deeply caring manner lead her to start her own private practice, Kathy Bell Holistic Healing – for Mind, Body and Spirit 2015-2019. Kathy found her life's purpose by being in service to others. Over the years, Kathy felt blessed to have had the opportunity to touch, support and be a positive influence in the lives of so many dear souls. For those who knew her, she was a beacon of light in their world.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, IN. Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. Rev. Lynda Richey and Rev. Vicki Corkell will officiate.
