Kenneth L. Mikel, 59, of Mishawaka, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Kenneth was born on May 19, 1949 in Mishawka to the late LaMarr K and Alice M. (Hufkens) Mikel. On November 29, 1972, he married Dao T. Pham.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dao of Mishawaka, three sons, Lt. Commander Elvis (Julie) Mikel of Aiea, HI, Kevin Mikel of Mishawaka and Dominic Mikel of Mishawaka, three grandchildren, Joseph Beaman, Thomas Mikel and Rosemary Mikel. He is also survived by one sister, Juanita (Gene) Miller of Louisville, KY.
Ken proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era before being honorably discharged. He attended Southwest Michigan College before going in to the military. He was currently working as a machinist for Honeywell and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Mishawaka. Ken was a long standing usher for Notre Dame Football for over 25 years and was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, March 27, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, March 28. 2009 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. Barry England will officiate.
