IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lana Darlene
(Gill) Pedzinski
November 2, 1944 – May 19, 2025
Lana (Gill) Pedzinski, 80, of Edwardsburg, MI, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, with her loving and faithful family by her side.
Born on November 2, 1944, in Elkhart, IN, Lana was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mildred (Smith) Gill. She was preceded in death by her brother Lynn Gill, stepmother Juanita Gill, stepfather Charles Smith, and step brothers Jim and Chuck Smith.
Lana attended Penn High School, where she not only participated in basketball and badminton but also served as President of the Girls Athletic Association—a testament to her leadership and spirited nature. A talented bowler, Lana enjoyed the camaraderie of her teammates while participating in many leagues over the years.
As a single mother, Lana poured her heart into raising her two children, never missing a moment of their lives. Her love was constant, her presence unwavering. She dedicated nearly 50 years of hard work at CTS, and upon retirement, embraced a life she loved.
She and her beloved dog Hank became familiar and friendly faces while camping at Camelot Campground in Jones, MI. Whether riding her golf cart or casting a line from her boat, Lana found joy in nature and treasured sharing that joy—especially with her grandchildren, who adored their time with her.
A passionate sports fan, Lana was a joyful and loyal supporter of her grandchildren's games—rain or shine, she never missed a game! She was their biggest cheerleader, full of pride and encouragement. She also had a special place in her heart for Notre Dame Women's Basketball and seldom missed a chance to cheer them on.
Lana's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She found fellowship at both Granger Missionary Church and Elkhart Northside Nazarene.
With deep gratitude, the family would like to thank Laura Hamman for her selfless care and companionship, which allowed Lana to remain in the comfort of her home for as long as possible. In addition, we are also thankful to Kim and Malcolm, owners of My Mother's House and their team of extraordinary caregivers. While providing a safe and family environment they surrounded our mother with warmth, dignity, and loving care in her final years. Because of their compassion, we were blessed with more time to cherish our precious mother.
Lana's legacy of love, laughter, strength, and unwavering devotion lives on in everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her children: Shawn (Dean) Schimpa of Edwardsburg, MI, and Kenneth (Michele) Wells of Edwardsburg. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Travis, Catie, Josh, Shelbi, Jason, Jordan, Emilee, Lexi, and Brody; 7 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Lana is also survived by her brother, Gary Gill, and her stepbrothers, Steve and Larry Smith.
