Obituary

Larry Keith Brown, age 78, of Elkhart passed away on March 6, 2016 at 4:07 PM at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. He was born February 23, 1938 to George William and Fern E. (Deal) Brown in Elkhart, Indiana. On August 2, 1958, Larry married Carol Ann Clark. She survives. Larry worked for 45 years as an electrician after attending trade school and serving as a journeyman for four years. Mr. Brown was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ in Osceola, Indiana. He loved his children and grandchildren and attended their activities without fail. Larry was the "ultimate Grandfather". He was a member of Kiwanis International, former Cleveland Little League Coach, and enjoyed racing, NASCAR, the Indy 500, IU Basketball, and the Green Bay Packers. Larry was very detail oriented as was evident with his model railroad that depicted the Elkhart downtown area-recreated to perfect scale. His children and grandchildren will remember him most for his strong character and work ethic. Larry is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; his children, Michael Keith (Cindy) Brown of Granger, Kelly (Tom Doke) Moore of Elkhart, and Kristan (Mel) Lenig; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild with one great grandson to be born any day; his sister, Jann (Warren) Dafoe of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bruce Brown. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. There will be a funeral service in Mr. Brown''s honor Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10 AM at the Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ, 10955 Edison Road, Osceola, IN 46561 with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are directed to the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.
