Obituary

Larry Wayne Miller, age 76 - former long-time resident of Elkhart, passed away December 23, 2012 at his home in Las Vegas, NV following a long battle with Parkinson''s and additional effects associated with the disease.

He was born March 7, 1936 in LaGrange County, IN and grew up in Elkhart. He graduated from Jimtown High School in 1954 and was employed as a machinist at Miles Laboratories for over 25 years. Upon retiring from Miles, Larry owned the Bowen''s Lodge fishing resort in Deer River, MN for five years and the Lamp Shop in Elkhart for two years after that.

He was preceded in death by his parents Vanus and Edythe Miller and his wife Althea Miller. He is survived by his wife Pam - Las Vegas, his children: Tim Miller - Vandalia, MI, Terri Miller - Elkhart, Cheryl Dees - Daytona Beach, FL and Mike Miller - Wheaton, IL (Chelle), step-daughter Amy Pih Gigante - Las Vegas (Danny), his brothers and sisters: Shirley Rumfelt - Edwardsburg, MI, Peggy Basse - Elkhart, Dave Miller- Elkhart (Joyce), Dick Miller - Elkhart (Pamela) and Ruth Ann Shirley - Elkhart (Tom), his eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was an avid sports fan of Jimtown, Notre Dame, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears. Whether it was playing cards, bowling, jigsaw puzzles or gardening, he led an active life.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola on Friday, December 28 with visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 and a brief memorial service at 7:00.
