Lawrence Eugene Rocole, age 87, of Granger, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2014. Lawrence was born September 16, 1926 in Deer, Arkansas to George and Leah (Edwards) Rocole. After his mother''s death, he was raised by his father and step-mother, Plemlie. On January 31, 1945, he married Tressie Pearl Wolf in Harrisburg, Arkansas.
He is survived by Pearl Rocole, his wonderful wife of 69 years, and two children; Jerry (Brenda) Rocole and Sandra Stauffer, both of Granger, Indiana. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Surviving as well are his sisters, Audrey Berry of Modesto, California, Imogene Norton of Berryville, Arkansas, and Lettie Shelley of Granger, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Monday, July 28, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Chapel Hill, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Lawrence proudly served his country during World War II. He brought his family to Indiana in 1952. After 34 years of employment at Ball Band (Uniroyal), Mr. Rocole retired in 1985. He served as an assistant Scout Master to Troop 503 at Mary Phillips School in Mishawaka for many years. Lawrence was a member of the Model A Club since 1980, serving as club President twice. He took great pride in the "old" cars and trucks he had, and was always willing to help other club members work on their vehicles.
In his memory, donations may be made to the Ireland Road Church of God, of which he was a longtime member.
