Lee Grose, 94, of Mishawaka and formerly of Elkhart, died Tuesday December 19, 2017 at the Waterford at Edison Lakes. The Auburn IL native was born March 8, 1923 to Lon & Mabel (Allen) Spurling. On December 24, 1940, Lee married Victor Grose in Elkhart; he preceded her in death on July 29, 1999 after 58 years of marriage. She worked at the Starlight Theater and later became the first female rural postal carrier in Elkhart and was the only female carrier for several years to come. She later worked at JC Penney in Elkhart. Lee enjoyed gardening, playing cards, especially Hand & Foot, and working crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents and her husband, Lee was also preceded in death by her infant son, Victor M. Grose; her brother, Sonny Spurling and sister, Dean Sparrow. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis (Ken) Kasner of Edwardsburg, Connie Williard and Marilyn (Phil) Mitchell, both of Bonita Springs FL; grandchildren, Kelly Kasner of Granger, Todd (Gina) Dukes of Naples FL, Kerri (Brian) Adams of Port Orchard WA and Stephanie (Dale) Jacobs of Goshen; seven great-grandchildren and her companion of eight years, Herb Fritz of Elkhart.
