Lela M. (Ray) Lisi, 88, of Mishawaka, died Friday August 7, 2015 in Memorial Hospital. The South Bend native was born February 11, 1927 to Joseph M. & Goldie (Wileman) Ray. "Rene" as she was nicknamed by her family, worked at Uniroyal during WWII helping to make items for the war effort; she remained at Uniroyal until just prior to her marriage on July 28, 1956 to Anthony Sisto Lisi in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1998 after 42 years of marriage. Lela was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and was immensely proud of her children and their families; she loved to cook and was known for her Italian dishes and homemade pastas. In addition to her parents and husband, Rene was also preceded in death by her siblings, Violet Ray, John Ray and Joseph Ray, Jr. She is survived by her sons, John H. Lisi and Anthony J. Lisi, both of Mishawaka; her sisters, Luella Reidenbach of Valparaiso, Phyllis Hendrickson & Rosemary Giles, both of Mishawaka and Shirley Labadie, Erma Berridge & Virginia DeGraff, all of South Bend; her brother, James Ray of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Christy (Andy) Tolch, Tricia (Coby) Deal & Jamie (Matt Luccki) Lisi, all of South Bend, and Amber Lisi of Mishawaka; great-grandchildren, Seth Tolch, Noah Phielka & Patrick Vaughn, all of Mishawaka, and Shaye Tolch, Cameron Deal & Allison Deal, all of South Bend. Funeral Service 2:00 Wednesday August 12, 2015 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call Tuesday 4-8pm in the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
