Obituary

Leo W. Forrest, 85, of Elkhart, died Thursday February 11, 2016. The Elkhart native was born June 14, 1930 to Edwin & Bessie (Pippenger) Forrest and graduated from Concord High School with the Class of ''48. On September 2, 1949, Leo married Mary L. (Hutchison) Forrest in Marion KY; she preceded him in death on November 19, 2012 after 63 years of marriage. Leo served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from H&A Selmer, Inc. after 30 yrs. with the company. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge and the UAW. Leo enjoyed the times spent with family & friends, trying his luck at the casinos, both in Las Vegas and those more local; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears & the Cubs and was well known for his keen sense of humor. In addition to his wife, Leo was also preceded by his parents, Edwin Forrest, John & Bessie (Forrest) Dobbyn and his brothers, Fred, Ed, Chuck & Jack Forrest. Leo is survived by his sons, Michael (Darci) Forrest of Middlebury and Patrick (Donna) Forrest of Elkhart; grandchildren, Mathew (Amy) Hostetler of Edwardsburg, Christopher (Tarra) Forrest of Ft Wayne, Ryan (Amber) Forrest of Columbia SC, Angela (Jeff) Vanlandingham of Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany and Mary (Jake) Balch of Elkhart, Emily (Zach) Kline of Constantine MI; sisters, Winifred Dorrier, Juanita Stout, Betty (Paul) Fuller, all of Elkhart and seventeen great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 10:00 Tuesday February 16, 2016 at Chapel Hill funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call Monday from 3-7pm in the funeral home. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family''s preferred memorials are the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
