ELKHART – Leo Stewart, Sr., 65, passed away in the early morning hours of January 18, 2018 in Elkhart. Leo was born April 21, 1952 in Powellton, WV to the late Joseph and Iva (Hudnall) Stewart. Mr. Stewart had a talent when it came to fixing cars as well as auto body restoration. He used his skill working as a diesel mechanic for many years. He enjoyed being in the garage with his friends talking about cars & sharing stories about the past. Leo also took time to travel back to West Virginia & visit his old stomping grounds. He will be missed dearly by his friends, family, and especially his granddaughter, Leann Stewart Pauwels. He helped raise Leann to be who she is today. Leo is survived by his son, Leo Stewart II; former wife, Ada Johnson, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 sisters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. The family of Mr. Stewart would like to extend sincerest thanks to Kathy Horton for being there for Leo & serving as his caregiver. Services commenced Wed. Jan. 24 ^th at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
