Leon Williams Sr. 86, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on January 17, 2024. He was born Aug 18, 1937 to Mr. Johnny and Magnolia (Crawford) Williams in Quitman County MS He is survived by his daughters Velma (Roy) Jackson, & Yvette Williams; brothers J.D. (Ruth) Williams & Wallace (Denise) Williams; sisters Cora (Glenn) Miller, Velma Ann Williams, Irene (Sidney) Jackson & Johnnie Mae Johnson, Ernice (Francis) Sanford: Daughter in law Sheila Williams; grandchildren Tricia Jackson-Barnes, Tamiah (Carlos) Harris, Andrea Jackson, Dominique Pledger, Leana Williams, Tyler (Jewel) Williams, Brandon (Shatisha)Williams, Jada Williams and Kendal Jackson; 27 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as a large extended family, and special friends Lucy Royal and Patt Johnson (formerly his daughter in law)
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lula Mae (Gross) Williams, his parents, two sons Leon and Glenn E. Williams; brothers Bob Williams, Sylvester Williams, Charles Williams; sisters Amy Williams, Gloria O'Neal, Vinnie Lou Allen and Lorene Williams; a grandson Deon Williams.
Leon was "The Original Boss Hog." He loved to go fishing when he was young and listening to the Blues throughout his life. He enjoyed travelling to visit with his family as well as sitting and napping on the front porch. He was a hospitable man and helped people in his community. He would open his home to those in need and had a passion for helping them get back on their feet. He was a hard worker with an exceptional work ethic and he encouraged his family to do the same. He encouraged education as well since he didn't get as far as he would have liked. He greatest love was his dear family.
Visitation for Leon will be held on Saturday, January, 27, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral ceremony beginning at 11:00 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, located at 10677 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561
