Leonard "Phil" Phillip Spencer, of Mishawaka, passed away at 8:00 am, Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in his home. Phil was born on December 14, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN. On May 22, 1975, he married Carolyn Myers, who is still surviving.
Phil is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Mishawaka; two children, Debra (Jeff) Oakley of Elkhart and Douglas (Susan) Coddens of Bremen; four grandchildren, Hannah, Jesse, Matthew, and Jennifer and one great granddaughter, Makena. He is also survived by one brother, Rick Perdue of Indianapolis and a sister, Pam Keck of Indianapolis, as well as, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Phil was a truck driver and retired in 2007 from ASF Holland. He was a member of the Teamsters local 364 & 414, B.A.S.S. Masters and American Legion Post 308. He will be remembered for his love of woodworking.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm on Friday, April 29, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior to the sercvice. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. Bud Walterhouse, pastor of California Road Missionary Church, Elkhart, will officiate.
