Lila F. Garner, 93, of Osceola, died Wednesday October 18, 2017 at Eastlake Terrace in Elkhart. Lila was born September 12, 1924 in Monroeville, the third of fourteen children of David & Lelah (Chapman) Salway. On March 25, 1945, she married Gerald M. Garner, who preceded her in death on August 18, 2001 after 56 years of marriage. Lila attended Grace Bible Church and enjoyed gardening, reading and working jigsaw puzzles; she also enjoyed the time she spent teaching Bible stories to children through her association with the Good News Club. In addition to her parents & her husband, Lila was also preceded in death by siblings, Howard Salway, Lola Salway, Harold Salway, Don Salway, Johnny Salway, Roland "Whitey" Salway, Dorothy Eckrote, Mary Salway, and Henry "Bud" Salway. She is survived by her son, Gerald M. "Jerry" (Shirley) Garner, Jr. of Elkhart; brothers, Walt (Betty) Salway of Decatur, Noel (Pat) Salway of Monroeville, James (Joyce) Salway of Fremont and her sister, Louise Brock of Hudson. Funeral Services 11:00 Saturday October 21, 2017 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. where friends may call from 10-11am on Saturday. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
