Lillian D. Stanifer, age 84, of Osceola, Indiana passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Michiana Health and Rehabilitation Center. Lillian was born July 18, 1929 in Elnora, Indiana to Reverend Archie and Willa (Horne) Spellman. She married the love of her life, Roger Stanifer, on December 11, 1949. The happy couple made their home and raised their family in Osceola, Indiana. Lillian made motherhood her number one job, then later went to work in the offices of Penn High School, and later retired from Wheelabrator in Mishawaka.
Surviving is her husband, Roger of Osceola, her sister, Lois Spellman of Osceola, her daughters Linda Howell of South Bend, and Cindy (Brian) Quist of Osceola and Ken Stanifer of Indianpolis. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Amy, Brett, and Steven Howell, and Aaron Quist, as well as her beloved great-granddaughter, Paisley Howell. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, David Spellman of North Liberty.
There will be no visitation or services. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements. A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
Lillian''s family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Michiana Health and Rehabilitation Center, as well as the Center for Hospice Care, for the outstanding love and care they provided Lillian for the last year and a half. Giving of yourselves the way you did is appreciated beyond words.
