Lizzie Mae Rucker was born on August 6, 1937 in Henning, Tennessee to the late Walter and Gussie McPherson. She was called home on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 4:30a.m. at Memorial Hospital. Liz was a blessed woman of God; she was a faithful member of Spiritual Israel Church for over 50 years.
Lizzie''s spirit will reside in memory with her seven children; Lynda (Robert) Meeks of Buckner, Arkansas, Jayne (Carl) Williams of South Bend, Indiana, Rose Rucker of South Bend, Indiana, Betty (Gilbert) Williams of South Bend, Indiana, James Rucker of South Bend, Indiana, Judy Rucker of South Bend, Indiana and Lisa (William) Tell of Arlington, Texas. Four brothers L.C.McPherson of Dyersburg, Tennessee Elijah McPherson of South Bend, Indiana, James Arthur McPherson and Frank McPherson of Chicago Illinois; four sisters: Fannie Mae Johnson of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Florine Hill of Texas, Gussie McPherson, Corine King of Chicago (Otha Mae Hayes of Harvey, Jestine Collins of Chicago niece); many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 12:00 pm funeral service on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Spiritual Israel Church, 3517 W. Washington St. South Bend, Indiana 46619. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Gussie McPherson; husband, James Rucker, Sr., two brothers, Robert and Cleveland McPherson; four sisters, Carrie Johnson, Marie Alexander, Ossie B. Rucker, Josephine Capers and granddaughter Elina Danielle Johnson and grandson Jeromy (Rucker) Miller.
