Obituary

Lloyd Cannon Kirkpatrick

May 4, 1962 – May 14, 2024.

Lloyd Cannon Kirkpatrick, 62, of Osceola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Fort Wayne Indiana, he graduated from North Side High School in 1980. He was a proud member of the North Side High School award-winning Band and Wildsiders Jazz Band. He joined his lifelong friend, Scott Samuel to form the Panacea Band.

After moving to Mishawaka, Indiana, he attended Indiana University South Bend where he earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Jazz and Commercial Music in 1983 and a Bachelor of Science in Music in 1986. He married Jennie Ann Hughes, his wife of more than 40 years, on September 10, 1983.

Lloyd spent a decade in the fiberglass industry before following his passion for music into the music instrument, supplies, and service industry. He began his career at Blessings Music Co. in 1997 and continued his career at Quinlan & Fabish Music Co. A connoisseur of all things music coupled with an unbeatable drive, dry wit and humor, Lloyd was a welcome presence at the many school systems he served in the greater northern Indiana area and beyond during his nearly 30-year career as an accomplished and successful instrument sales representative.

He was a former member of the Elkhart Municipal Band and a past president of the Elkhart County Symphony Association. Lloyd had an unsatiable thirst for knowledge, enjoyed family vacations in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, loved coffee, especially from Java Joe's Café, and was a devoted family man.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie Kirkpatrick of Osceola, children Sarah Dwigans (David) of Granger, IN, Susie DeMaegd (Nic) of Mishawaka, Sam Kirkpatrick (Tabitha) of South Bend, Seth Kirkpatrick, Sadie Kirkpatrick and Sallie Kirkpatrick of Osceola, three grandchildren (Peyton and Cannon Dwigans and Dorothy DeMaegd), mother Patricia Kirkpatrick of Ft. Wayne, sister Peggy Georgi (David) of Gainesboro, TN, and Charles Kirkpatrick (Maria) of Conroe, TX, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald L. Kirkpatrick and granddaughter, Piper Dwigans.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 (noon) at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, located at 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, Indiana 46561.  A funeral service shall begin at 12:00 (noon) with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
