Lois Jean Searfoss, 66, of Mishawaka, died on Friday, November 30, 2018 surrounded by her family.  She was born on January 17, 1952 to Robert Lee and Martha Bell (Turner) Phelps.  She graduated in 1970 from Penn High School and on February 15, 1986, Jean married Willard Searfoss.  She began a lifetime of caring for her family and raising her children.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she and her husband Will were foster parents caring for many children in their home.  Jean enjoyed playing Bingo and eating at the Big Panda.  Jean is survived by her husband of 32 years, Will; her children, James (Jenn) Searfoss of New York, Luke (Danelle) Searfoss of Edwardsburg, Audrey Searfoss and Guy (Tina) Searfoss both of Mishawaka; foster children, Albany Green and Tesla Burns; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; stepdad, Warren Mason of Elkhart; stepmom Elizabeth Phelps of Osceola; her siblings, Vicky (Arch) Grafton, James (Judy) Phelps, Marie (Richard) Curths, Dawn (Ray) Summeier; and sister-in-law Kathy Phelps.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Phelps; Niece Laura Watson; and great niece, Amanda Watson.  Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4-8 PM in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN  46561.  A funeral service in Jean's honor will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10 AM with calling one hour prior.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or New Life Church, 11593 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN  46561.
