Obituary

Lolita "Lee" Keefer, 83, a long-time former resident of Osceola, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Riverwalk Commons in Noblesville. Born January 14, 1934 in Enid, Ok, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth (McDonald Knaus, Lolita received a BA in Music Education from Phillips University in 1955. She taught music at Needmore School outside of Bloomington, IN before moving to the South Bend area to raise a family. She worked for Home Insurance Company and Valley Insurance Agency, retiring in 1999. Lolita''s love of music was surpassed only by the joy she gained from sharing that love with others. She taught piano and flute lessons privately for over 50 years and tutored hundreds of people. She began as the organist at Osceola United Methodist Church in the early 1970''s and continued in the music ministry for more that 40 years in the roles of organist, pianist, choir director, and handbell director. She started the handbell program at the church and organized the men''s group known as he Baugo Bay Gospel Singers. She was active in civic theatre and was an accompanist for many musicals performed by the Osceola Community Players. Lolita is survived by her son Milton (Kim) Keefer of Noblesville, IN and daughter Jill (Dennis) Adams of Garland, Tx: tree grandchildren, Melinda (Matt) Reeves, Sarina and Ashley Adams; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Broderick. Family and friends will be received Friday, April 21, 2017 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561 from 4-8 PM. A funeral service in Lee''s honor will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 AM at the Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 North Beech Road, Osceola, IN 46561, with Pastor Brian Beeks officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 North Beech Road, Osceola, IN 46561 or Macular Degeneration Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
