Loneda M. "Granny" Robinson, age 92, of Osceola, Indiana, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at St. Joseph''s Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Loneda was born Feb. 14, 1919 in Marshall County, Indiana to the late Henry and Amelia (Birk) Hummel. In September of 1937, she married Marion C. Robinson. He preceded her in death, passing away June 16, 1956.
Surviving are her children, Wallace (Janet) Robinson of Elizabethtown, KY, Janice Gibson, of Broken Arrow, OK, James (Diane) Robinson of Buchanan, MI, Marilyn Niver of Mishawaka, Darlene (Clarence "Sonny") Chambers of Osceola, Marvin (Debra) Robinson of Pekin, IN, Judy (Larry) Cunningham of South Bend, and Lucy (Dave) Tener of Elkhart. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Loneda was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Niver-Hershberger, a son in law, Charles Gibson, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, her granddaughter Kathy Sharp, and her grandson, David Robinson.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 4-8 pm. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Chapel Hill. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Granny was employed over 10 years at Elkhart General Hospital in the central linen supply, and had worked in the laundry at St. Joseph''s Hospital in Mishawaka as well. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting and loved to walk outdoors, feeding the wild animals. She was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church for many years.
Granny loved animals and her family as well. She was an adventurous lady with a tremendous sense of humor, who taught her family to be independent people. In her memory, donations may be made to the Pet Refuge, or the American Cancer Society.
