Lorene R. Petree, age 85, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Lorene was born December 18, 1924 to the late John and Viola (Bagwell) VonAllmen in South Bend, Indiana. Lorene was a graduate of Riley High School, and was married to Edgar Petree on January 24, 1947 in South Bend, Indiana. Edgar preceded her in death, passing away in December of 2005.
Surviving is her daughter, Leeann Buwa and her husband Roger of Mishawaka, along with three grandchildren; John Buwa and his wife Anna, Paul Buwa, and Ruth Buwa. Lorene is also survived by seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, with another to arrive shortly. She was preceded in death by her brother Harry VonAllmen and her sister Helen Forrester, and is survived by four sisters-in-law; Norma VonAllmen, Viola Krahlec, Francis Konopinski, and Geraldine Petree.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 pm Monday, November 22, 2010 at Chapel Hill Fuenral Home in Osceola, Indiana. Rev. J. Mark Muncy of the Ireland Road Church of God will officiate the 1:00 pm funeral service on Monday, November 22, 2010 and interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, Indiana.
Lorene spent 35 years employed by the Mishawaka Police Department as a Crossing Guard at Batell School. She loved working with children, and spending time with her family. One of her favorite past times was shopping at the Goodwill stores in the area. She attended the Ireland Road Church of God as well.
In her memory, contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross and to the staff of the Intensive Care and Critical Care Units at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for the care and concern shown to Lorene while in their care.
