Lorraine C. Hardy, age 87, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the Hospice House of South Bend. Lorraine was born in Dowagiac, Michigan on October 15, 1927 to the late Henry and Chanda (Mitchell) Stewart. Her husband of more than 40 years, Fred Hardy, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Hardy of South Carolina, and a brother, Charles Stewart of Cassopolis, Michigan. Lorraine was preceded in death by her daughter, Jenny Hardy, and her siblings Joan Randle, Donna Makaley, Suasn & Sally Harrison, and Betty Irvin.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Olivet African Methodist Episcopal Church; 719 Notre Dame Ave, South Bend, Indiana 46617. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Lorraine was a longtime member of Olivet AME Church where she served on the Stewardess board and the Missionary Society. She loved kids, and babysat children for many years. Lorraine also enjoyed reading and writing stories, as well as listening to music. She also was very fond of her dog, Ty.
