In Loving Memory of Louise Mae Zehrung
December 8, 1925 – August 1, 2025

Louise Mae Zehrung, 99, of Mishawaka, went into the loving arms of Jesus in the early morning hours on August 1st, surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.

Born on December 8, 1925, in Mishawaka, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Ethel Sabina (Yeider) Erickson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Zehrung; her brothers, Donald (Virginia) Erickson and Victor (Rachael) Erickson; and her sisters, Gloria (Robert) Takace and Marjorie (Gerald) Hogue.

Louise was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, Class of 1943. After graduation, she went on to work at Ball Band as a comptometer operator. She met the love of her life, Harvey Zehrung, and they were united in marriage on October 23, 1948, in Mishawaka. She enjoyed being a mother to her three children that followed shortly after marriage. Later in her life, Louise loved working at the family owned Hogue Enterprises for many years. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and service to others.

A devoted Christian, Louise was a lifelong pillar of faith at St Mark Missionary Church, where she also taught Sunday school for many years and dedicated many hours serving in various ways. Her steadfast faith and nurturing spirit made her a cherished matriarch to both her family and her church community.

Louise loved capturing memories through photography, enjoying life on the river, butter pecan ice cream, and savoring a warm cup of coffee —always with a lot of cream. But most of all, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family, to whom she was fiercely loyal and lovingly devoted.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Tisch; her sons, Dennis (Gena) Zehrung of Osceola, and Donald (Melodye) Zehrung of Elkhart; as well as her cherished grandchildren, her ten great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
