Lowell M. "Pappy" Friesner, USN Ret. , age 83 of Osceola, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka following a brief illness. Lowell was born October 15, 1927.

He is survived by his children, Larry (Hazel) Friesner of Elkhart, Sue (Steve) Stauffer of Elkhart, and Richard (Diane) Friesner of Osceola. Surviving as well are 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.

Mr. Friesner joined the service at the age of 17, and served 26 years in the U.S. Navy before his retirement at the rank of AE-1. He was employed for many years at South Bend Lathe and in his spare time, enjoyed operating his HAM radio, fishing, cars and motorcycles and "fiddling and tinkering" with electronics. He was a member of the American Legion Post #308, VFW Post #88, and the DAV Post #19.
