Obituary

Lucy Artive Halsaver, age 88, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Miller''s Merry Manor in New Carlisle of natural causes. Artive was born January 10, 1921 in Boonville, Mississippi to the late Harrison and Flossie (Lewis) Armstrong. On October 24, 1942, Artive was united in marriage to Mr. Chester Halsaver. Chester preceded her in death, passing away in 2007.
Surviving is her son Tom and his wife Sheila Halsaver of Niles, Michigan, two grandsons, Adam Halsaver of Mishawaka, and Justin and his wife Tabby Halsaver of Georgetown, Kentucky. Artive is also survived by her brother Ben Armstrong of Mishawaka, and her sisters Emogene Reeves of Osceola, Wincie Hayes of Arkansas, Laverne Jennings and Linda Vernon, both of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bobby Armstrong, Louise Foust, Hulda Foust, and Ethelene Reed.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Friday, July 17, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Artive was employed for many years at Dog N'' Suds Drive-In in Mishawaka for many years where she was involved in many aspects of the business. She enjoyed gardening and quilting, and was known by her family as an amazing cook. Artive also had a love for animals and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Halsaver was also one of the Jehovah''s Witnesses, associated with the Mishawaka North Congregation.
